XP is running out of time

windowsxpIf you are using Windows XP then you will soon be vulnerable to cyber attacks and viruses. Microsoft is pulling support for this operating system leaving you defenceless against future attacks.

As of April 8th 2014 Microsoft will no longer offer support for Windows XP. What this means to you is that they will no longer be creating updates for their most loved operating system. Some may see this as a good thing, updates just cause a delay in the morning when you turn on your computer right? Not so, these updates are named “critical updates” for a reason, they are critical in protecting you and your computer.

On supported systems, malware attacks, vulnerabilities and bugs are quickly dealt with. From April 8th Microsoft will no longer releasing updates for Windows XP meaning that any malware or viruses that hackers create will be free to wreak havoc and there will never be an update to fix it. Imagine Windows updates like a person that comes to your home and checks that all of the doors are locked, they are a pain, an incovenience, but they make sure that no one breaks into your house. Would you leave the doors in your house unlocked?

Don't worry, all is not lost, upgrading your computer(s) to Windows 7 will allow you to breathe easy once again. With its appearance largely similar to Windows XP it is also relatively easy to navigate for the XP stalwart. Windows 8 & 8.1 however, are a whole different ballgame.
